Introducing: Special Constables (Volunteer Police Officers)
Special Constables are volunteer police officers who work alongside full-time officers. They come from all walks of life, teachers, students, business leaders, retail workers, and give their time to support frontline response and neighbourhood policing.
What the role offers:
- Full police training (usually over 11 weekends)
 - Uniform, equipment, travel costs, and even a food allowance for some duties
 - A chance to gain real-world experience, confidence, and skills you can take back into your main job
 - Flexible commitment: just 16 hours per month

Specials handle 999 calls, engage with the community, and support specialist teams such as rural policing and roads policing. You’ll also be trained in personal safety and first aid.
