Healthier You: the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme is delivered face-to-face here at Cotton Court.
If you’ve been referred to the programme, this is your first step towards taking control of prediabetes in a supportive, local setting.
What Is Healthier You?
Healthier You is an NHS-approved programme designed to help reduce your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
Through a series of supportive group sessions led by trained Health Coaches, you’ll learn how to make simple, sustainable lifestyle changes that fit into your everyday life.
The focus isn’t on quick fixes or restrictive dieting. It’s about realistic adjustments that help you feel healthier, more energetic and more in control.
What You’ll Learn
Throughout the programme, you’ll discover practical ways to improve:
● How you eat
● How you exercise
● How you sleep
● How you think about yourself
● How you manage stress
It’s a whole-person approach, because preventing Type 2 diabetes isn’t just about food. It’s about building healthier habits that last.
What to Expect from the Programme
The programme runs over nine months and includes 13 free group sessions.
The first four sessions are held fortnightly, followed by monthly sessions for the remainder of the programme.
You’ll meet your Health Coach and your group, set realistic goals, and work through practical, interactive sessions designed to support long-term change.
Early sessions focus on building balanced meals, increasing activity levels, and tackling negative thought patterns. As the programme progresses, the focus shifts to maintaining your new lifestyle and embedding lasting habits.
Partway through, you’ll return to your GP for a follow-up blood test to measure improvements in your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
